Through therapy, we honor our identities while recognizing and appreciating how they may shape our healing journeys.

Approach to Therapy:

Therapy is a unique space where human connection is used as a tool for healing. It is where therapist and client come together to shine a warm light on the dark corners within the mind to explore and work to understand our pasts, ourselves, our relationships, and our potential. Therapy is a journey that allows us to uncover patterns in our behaviors and thoughts and investigate how these patterns started. We may find comfort in these old habits while simultaneously working towards meaningful change in our personal and interpersonal lives. Therapy invites us to find and create the routes we need to live in a more empowered, authentic, and connected way.

All individuals in the therapeutic space bring their backgrounds and identities, clients and therapists alike. Honest reflection and acknowledgment of these identities and their power are necessary to create the safety and healing we seek. Through therapy, we honor our identities while recognizing and appreciating how they may shape our healing journeys.

Clinical Interests:

I support individuals, couples, and families as they navigate change, conflict, transition, trauma, loss, and grief. I work with those experiencing anxiety and depression, overwhelm, addiction, and existential unease. I focus on understanding and re-working the narratives clients tell themselves, working to find where those narratives might be keeping us stuck and finding space between those narratives to shift perspective. I respect and enjoy hearing everyone’s unique stories and lived experiences.

I bring a trauma-informed, identity-affirming approach to my work. I strive to work towards social justice, acknowledging implicit power and biases within relationships. I work as an LGBTQIA+ and polyamorous affirming clinician. When clients leave my office, I want them to have a safer, fuller relationship with themselves. We can build the trust and resiliency needed to keep going, embrace change, and face discomfort.

Education and Training:

I received my bachelor’s degree from American University in Washington, DC, and hold a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University. I am trained in psychodynamic talk-therapy, with experience integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), ACT, and exposure therapeutic techniques into my work with clients. I received systemic and group-relations training, which informs my relational therapeutic approach. I have experience working within hospitals, outpatient settings, and community mental health organizations. I strive to bring my diverse life experiences into the therapeutic space, making room for compassionate connection with all those seeking care.

3 Things I love:

Running in the summer rain, traveling off the beaten path, and making people laugh.
