Therapy is most effective when you feel valued, validated, and empowered to dig deeper.
— Simran Nachane

Approach to Therapy:

I see my clients as the experts in the room. I am here to be a helping hand in gaining a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships. Working together, we will rewrite how you process experiences to make them more meaningful to your personal development. I want you to feel confident in your story and the way you express yourself. There are many systems that shape a person, and my work focuses on the importance of understanding the multiple contexts in which you live. I believe that therapy is most effective when you feel valued, validated, and empowered to dig deeper.

As a South Asian, I believe and understand how our race, ethnicity, and cultures shape our experiences and who we are. My therapy space advocates for marginalized individuals. I hope that we can work together to discover possible transgenerational patterns, systemic barriers, cultural differences, and more that impact you. My goal is to help you strengthen your understanding of yourself and your relationships. I am so excited to work together and support your journey.

Clinical Interests:

Relationships and relational connections are subjective experiences. I believe there is no designated way to build these. With nearly a decade of experience in childcare and as a nanny, I learned the true complexities of family systems. My passions are centered around working with couples, families, individuals, those experiencing perinatal and postpartum depression, infertility, and those in interracial couples. People go through many developmental stages in their lives, which can bring stress and new experiences, particularly in this uncertain state of the world. I offer a warm, transparent environment and encourage all of my clients to bring their authentic selves into the therapy room.

Education and Training:

I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Couple and Family Therapy at Adler University and am a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. With a background in Economics, I bring a systems-thinking perspective to my clinical work, recognizing the complex ways individuals, relationships, and environments influence one another. This foundation allows me to approach therapy with curiosity, collaboration, and an appreciation for the broader contexts that shape each client’s experience.

My work at Amanda Atkins Counseling Group is supervised by Kelly DeGraaf, LMFT.

3 Things I love:

Trying new restaurants (I am a huge foodie), environmental conservation (I volunteered in Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic for this initiative!), and playing tennis in 65°F weather.
