Approach to Therapy:

Allowing oneself to fully open up to another requires a fair amount of courage and vulnerability. I believe it is an honor to bear witness to such sacred, intimate parts of people’s lives and strive to cultivate a warm, safe, and comfortable therapeutic space for my clients.

I value diversity and intersectionality- both in my approach to therapy and client population. There is no clear-cut path leading to growth and healing and that’s okay. The beauty of therapy is having a space to honor and celebrate all of one’s identities and use them to drive the therapeutic work. I utilize a strengths-based, collaborate approach in helping my clients visualize a sense of autonomy in their growth processes.

I am a second-generation, bilingual, Latina and am passionate about making therapy accessible to Latinx and Spanish-speaking folks. Connecting with someone of a similar culture can be a pillar in one’s healing.

Clinical Interests:

I support individuals, couples, and families in working through struggles related to anxiety, depression, culture, family of origin conflict, relational conflict, and self-esteem and am an LGBTQIA- affirming and sex positive therapist. I have a considerable amount of experience working with pre-adolescents, adolescents, young adults, and their families around identity development and strengthening interpersonal relationships. I’m an EFT trained therapists and enjoy working with couples wanting to deepen their emotional connection. Lastly, I’m trained by Postpartum Support International to work with clients experiencing infertility, postpartum, and perinatal mood disorders.

Education and Training:

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Spanish from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University. I have contributed to several research projects throughout my schooling and value the importance of ongoing learning, especially as we have been first hand witnesses to major historical landmarks in our social, racial, and political atmospheres.

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of Illinois. I have completed the training to become an AAMFT-approved supervisor and am accumulating hours to receive full accreditation.

Three things I love:

Dogs, comfy sweaters, and breaking a sweat.
