“In our sessions, I’ll be honest with you, even if it’s uncomfortable, and make sure your emotions always have room to breathe. ”
Approach to Therapy:
Who you are today isn’t accidental. The struggles you are carrying are shaped by your past and current relationships, experiences, and environment. This is exactly where the work begins. I want our space to be a place where every part of who you are gets to show up.
My approach to therapy is genuine and collaborative. I want you to show up as your full, authentic self, and I will follow your lead. In our sessions, I’ll be honest with you, even if it’s uncomfortable, and make sure your emotions always have room to breathe. Humor has a place here, too, because therapy doesn’t always have to be so heavy. Starting therapy is no small thing, and I don’t take lightly the trust it takes to let someone know your story. It is truly an honor, and I am fully in your corner.
As a Chinese adoptee, I bring a lived experience of identity, belonging, and the complexity of a multicultural experience. Intersectionality is not just a clinical framework for me; it is personal. I will not shy away from hard conversations about culture, race, or identity, and I am committed to making sure all of who you are is welcomed in our time together.
Clinical Interests:
I enjoy working with couples, families, teens, and individuals. My areas of interest include adoption, infidelity, trauma, domestic violence, substance abuse, blended families, grief and loss, sex therapy, and multicultural intersectionality.
I am a systemic and relational therapist, which means I value all the systems and relationships that shape who you are. I draw from Collaborative Language Systems (CLS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), trauma-focused approaches, and sex therapy models. In other words, expect curiosity about the specific words you choose, attention to attachment bonds, care around your trauma stories, and openness when talking about sex and intimacy!
am an LGBTQIA+ affirming, kink-affirming, poly-affirming, sex-positive therapist. I am committed to creating a space that is safe, inclusive, and affirming for people of all identities, backgrounds, and experiences.
Education and Training:
I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in the Couple and Family Therapy program at Adler University. I am a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and am completing Adler University's certification in sex therapy. Following graduation, I plan to become a Certified Sex Therapist through the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT).
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Adult Development from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (I-L-L!). During my undergraduate studies, I spent two years as a research assistant in the Cognition and Brain Lab, where I worked with EEG technology to study memory processes in younger and older adults. I also worked with the Prevention Science and Family Resilience Lab on the Strong Couples Project, helping refine coaching skills for couples-based interventions. These research experiences deepened my understanding of human relationships and strengthened my passion for working with individuals and couples from a systemic, relational perspective.
My work at AACG is supervised by Kristen Troian, LMFT.
3 Things I love:
Rating a movie on Letterboxd right as the credits roll, my ever-growing journaling ecosystem, and a tarot card pull to set the tone for the day.
