Welcome.

You're probably here because you're considering starting therapy. Whether you want to face some things on your own or improve your relationship, you're in the right place. It's not always easy, but just by beginning this search, you're already prioritizing your well-being. Maybe you're struggling in relationships, coping with loss, or wanting to manage anxiety or depression. Life can feel overwhelming at points. Take a few minutes to explore and see if one of our therapists might be a good fit for you.

What Makes Us Different?

(Not pictured: Fatima Ahmed, Amina Elmhady, and Sarah Young)

We envision a new kind of therapy - one where providers are invested in people, not the bottom line. We understand that nodding and smiling are simply not enough to recognize and care for the soul. By using empathy and compassion, we open the window and let the light shine on our darkest, most difficult challenges. From this light, we show our clients, our colleagues, and ourselves how to live in this wounded world with an open heart.

On Power and Systemic Racism:

We believe that therapists are in a unique position of holding a sacred space for suffering. We cannot adequately do our work without acknowledging that we live in a society that's been built on a system of white privilege and oppression of Black and Brown people. All therapists at Amanda Atkins Counseling Group stand in solidarity with Black Lives Matter, as well as all people of color, for whom since the foundation of this country have been systemically oppressed. We are committed to our own work of acknowledging our implicit biases, listening to and learning from people of color, as well as continuing to understand how we can dismantle racism and support systemic change. Posting this is not “good enough”. Our work is ongoing.

On Accessibility and Disability:

Do you have access needs? Let us know! It is important to us that our office is accessible to all. Our office comfortably accommodates folks with mobility aids and disabilities. There are no stairs when entering our Lincoln Square building, and our Avondale building has stairs and an elevator. Both of our offices have parking lots. We are committed to exceeding compliance with ADA standards per the Americans With Disabilities Act. All are welcome at our practice.
